The Golden Rules
For all the wigs
Brush Gently
Always use a wide-tooth comb or a specific wig brush, starting from the ends and working your way up to avoid shedding.
Store it right
When not in use, always keep your wig on a wig stand or mannequin head to maintain it's shape and avoid tangles.
Cold water only
Never use hot water to wash your wig, as it can damage the fibers or the cap construction.
Synthetic Wigs
Low Maintenance, High Care
The Big NO
Never apply direct heat (like regular irons or blow dryers) unless it's explicitly labeled as "heat-friendly".
Products
Only use synthetic-safe shampoos and leave-in conditioners. Regular hair products will ruin the fiber.
Heat Styling
Regular synthetic wigs will melt with heat. However, if you have a Heat-Friendly (or Heat-Resistant) Synthetic Wig, you can use styling tools. Just make sure to keep the temperature low -usually between 250°F and 280°F (120°C to 140°C)- to prevent damaging the fiber
The Golden Rule for Heat-Friendly
Remember that unlike human hair, synthetic heat-friendly fibers will hold the new style) whether you straightened it or curled it) until you apply heat again. It won't back to original style just by washing it.
Human Hair Wigs
Just Like Your Own (But Better)
Heat Styling
You can use straighteners and curling irons, but always apply a heat protectant first.
Moistures is Key
Unlike synthetic fibers, human hair needs extra hydration because it doesn't get natural oils from a scalp. Use high-quality, sulfate-free moisturizing products.
